The MuseumsQuartier opened in 2001. It houses the Leopold Collection, the MUMOK (Museum of Modern Art), the KUNSTHALLE (Arts Centre) Wien, as well as various additional arts and cultural initiatives. Due to its large open spaces and its numerous cafes, it is very popular as a leisure oasis in the middle of the city, especially in summer.

Hundertwasserhaus
The famous Austrian painter and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser drew the plans for this extraordinary museum. In addition to the museum, the Hundertwasserhaus also contains private apartments.

A walk through the Crime Museum resurrects the dark side of Vienna over the past three centuries. Discover legendary cases such as the murderer Hofrichter, who poisoned his victims, but also take a trip through the history of the judicial and police systems. Housed in one of Leopoldstadt’s oldest buildings, the so-called 'Seifensiederhaus', visitors to the Crime Museum can marvel at an architectural jewel in one of Vienna’s historic districts.

Vienna was always influenced by Jewish culture and that influence continues to this day. In numerous temporary exhibitions the museum shines a light on Jewish history, culture and religion on four floors. Symposiums, readings and concerts also take place regularly at the museum. The museum, in the Palais Eskeles, is intended as a meeting place and a place of communication and discussion.

Sigmund Freud Museum
With the help of the psychologist’s youngest daughter, Anna Freud, a memorial to the founder of psychoanalysis was created in the former residence and office of Sigmund Freud. Original fixtures include, among others, the waiting room and provide an insight into Sigmund Freud's biography, his cultural environment, as well as his medical accomplishments. The Sigmund Freud Museum is most easily reached by public transportation.

Domgasse No. 5 is Mozart’s only Vienna apartment still in existence. The musical genius lived here rather opulently from 1784 to 1787. The exhibition of Mozart’s life and works chiefly explores the period in Vienna when he reached his creative peak.
