The Vienna Opera Ball at the Wiener Staatsoper is one of the highlights of the ball season in Vienna. Ladies wear elegant, festive and truly expensive evening dresses, while gentlemen are obliged to don their best swallow-tails. It's not a question of style: its obligatory. In the balconies, which are rented for up to Euro 18,500, the who is who of politics, economy and society mix and mingle

Vienna Opera Ball: being there is everything

It is a truly uplifting feeling to see the debutantes in their white dresses, wearing little crowns, swirling to the rhythm of the opening quadrille. Tension and anticipation are in the air. At 10pm sharp the night of nights begins and it will be danced away until the early hours of the morning.
